pod casting, pod castsI’m not in the least bit surprised that pod casting is immensely popular, especially among younger generations. If there is one thing that all young people have in common it is that they despise being bored. Pod casts give people the opportunity to avoid boredom. If you have a long commute to work, college or school, you have the option of watching or listening to a few pod casts. This can make an hour’s commute seem like just a few minutes. Why spend the time on the bus or train twiddling your thumbs if you can watch a music video instead?
Nevertheless, some would argue that pod casting is not a good thing. Time spent listening to or watching pod casts is time that could have been used for something more productive or educational. Instead of watching a music video on the train, you could read a book. Furthermore, pod casts could be making the younger generation less aware of their surroundings. Take for example the London bombing that took place on July 7, 2005. If such an incident were to occur in the United States and you were concentrating on your pod cast instead your environment, it could cost you your life.
Has pod casting improved the way we live our lives today, or has it made things worse? Like all technology, pod casting has its advantages and disadvantages.
