Pod casting and web casting are similar in nature. The definition of webcasting is distributing pre-recorded or live media files through the web. With that in mind, it is easy to make the connection between the two forms of online broadcasting. Web casting has allowed anyone with a web cam or computer microphone to stream live content from where ever they may be. It is a great source for citizen journalism and continues to grow in popularity.
The best pod casts have an army of listeners who tune in regularly. Pod casting is a great way to get your voice heard and draw increased traffic to a specific website. The difference between web casts and pod casts are that pod casting stems from the use of Apple’s iPod. Syndication and subscription are called for by those interested in pod casting.
When a fan subscribes to a pod cast every time a new broadcast is created an alert and automatic download will occur on an individual’s iTunes or iPod. Web casts are generally updated on a website where viewers will have to go in order to view the new stuff.
